The Young Designer Award

By Fashion Workie on 27th October 2015, posted in: Competitions

The Young Designer Award (YDA) is a nation-wide talent search for the best and brightest upcoming British designers. Now in its sixth year, the award is more exciting than ever. Five finalists will be chosen from hundreds of applicants to individually create a five-piece collection in 10 weeks, based on the FS2016 Creative Brief: BARE.

Throughout the competition, short video clips and photoshoots with our models and renowned photographers will chronicle the finalists' progress.A judging panel of industry experts and fashion journalists chooses the winner in January, before all the finalists' collections are shown on our catwalk in February, in front of international press such as Vogue, Tatler and The New York Times and alongside high-profile designers, which in the past have included Issa London, Amanda Wakeley, Tommy Hilfiger, Topman, Victoria Beckham, Hackett, and Hentschman. The winner of YDA receives a £1000 reward. The exposure and the experience is unrivaled.

Previous recipients of the Young Designer Award have successfully started their own labels such as Luke Archer London and Persephone Corsetry, while others have gone on to work professionally for Chilli Apparel, Topshop, Abercrombie & Fitch and PPQ amongst other areas of the fashion industry.

Complete the online application form found at and provide an example of one or more past sketches. Short-listed candidates will subsequently be interviewed. Successful applicants will be notified via email and prompted to begin designing their five-piece collection.

Deadline 30/10/15

Good luck!
