Ad Expires In: 1 month 20 hoursAbout: Crooked Knitwear LTD is a 3 tier fashion brand trading as Megan Crook, Crooked Knitwear and Get Crooked. Each range focuses on a specific audience, demographic and price range. Megan Crook is the creator and textile guru behind the business. Although specialising in knitwear, Crook's recent work displays an emphasis on pattern cutting and form through a marriage of colour and texture. Located in Derby city centre, Megan travels regularly sourcing materials and organising pop-up shops and events throughout the year. Would you like to improve your skills and gain better knowledge of what it takes to stay ahead in the creative industry?
The Work Placement is very much practical based. Most of your time would be spent on computerised Brother or Passap machines honing in your skills and developing new techniques through sampling. We also work with DesignaKnit software, freehand design concepts and hand knit. I feel garments should look as good on the inside as they do on the outside so an emphasis will also be put on finishing and construction. In addition, there would be opportunities to work with graphics and photoshop, grading, pattern cutting and assisting with exhibitions should you choose.
Please note all short Student Work Placements (3-6 months) are unpaid. The time invested into your training is extensive so we can not pay to teach you however long term placements will be considered for paid piece work after a successful trial period. We do reimburse travel costs up to £10 per day to our premises in Derby city centre.
We offer work experience positions of varying lengths to well-motivated, reliable and diligent individuals. We believe that an internship is a valuable part of learning about the fashion industry as much as it is about developing skills and experiencing what it's like to be part of a bustling business. We look for candidates who are friendly and enthusiastic, have good communication skills, who work well with others as well independently.
On a knitwear Work Placement you may work on a variety of tasks and projects, including but not limited to: swatches, machine knitting, hand sewing, hand knitting, finishing, creating fairisle patterns, assisting with special projects such as commissions or developing upcoming collections for varying demographics. Domestic machine knitting using flat bed, double bed, computerised, punchcard, fairisle and jacquard.
We are looking for individuals who show good attention to detail and have at least two years of study.
