The Company:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Category Manager to join a supplier who specialise in corporate wear and uniforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for range and product development, pricing and promotional strategy for online and catalogue apparel. This opportunity would appeal to someone from a buying/category/trading or product management background who understands customer needs with experience in identifying new commercial lines.
 
The Role:

  • Defining the overall marketing promotions for each category.
  • Setting sales targets by product for each promotion.
  • Analysing data to understand trends.
  • Setting the pricing for the products.
  • Liaising with marketing teams/ecommerce teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of each product category.
  • Analysing and communicating the performance of new product/range launches.
  • Determining the positioning of each product category to maximize visibility.
  • Analysing data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends.
  • Defining the range for each category.
  • Identifying gaps in the range and develop product to close gaps.
  • Looking actively for trade opportunities such as fashion trends and other opportunities.
  • Developing a test and repeat model for NPD to limit stock exposure whilst identifying bestsellers.
  • Driving the NPD pipeline with supply chain and suppliers.
  • Developing exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
  • Fostering trust relationships with supply chain and in the future vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services.
  • Placing appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets customer’s demands.
  • Collaborating with supply chain and merchandising to expand product categories.
  • Making forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory.

 
Skills Required:

  • Previous experience within a similar Product Manage/Category Manager or Buying role with apparel or fashion.
  • A good knowledge of marketing/promotional and sales principles is essential.
  • Must be able to demonstrate hands on experience of product and range development directly with factories, as well as collaboration with internal teams.
  • Commercial mind-set.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and tenacious with a strong work ethic.
  • Organised, methodical and a good process/people balance.
  • Passionate and willing to learn.
  • Confident and self-assured.
  • Change orientated, responsive, open minded and innovative.
  • Strong team player and confident communication.
