As we continue to grow and expand, we are seeking a highly motivated, innovative Junior Footwear Designer & Product Developer to join our team. As a Junior Footwear Designer & Product Developer, you will play a pivotal role, working closely with the buyers to design and develop shoes and bring them to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Constantly be researching trends online, carrying our comparative shopping, on a weekly basis.
  • Design shoe samples, from start to finish, including but not limited to, style of shoe, fabrics, uppers design.
  • Create design specs and submit sample requests to factories.
  • Manage all shoe samples, ensuring manufacturers reach set deadlines.
  • Work closely with the factories through each stage of shoe development.
  • Creating clear sample comments to ensure all changes are understood and actioned by the factories.
  • Approving and signing off samples, working close with the Buyers.
  • Keeping all administrative files up to date, to ensure everything is documented. (As well as being in charge of the material library).
  • Support Buying team with all necessary administrative tasks to ensure critical path deadlines are achieved.
  • Carry out any ad hoc duties required by the buying team.
  • Assist in fit sessions when needed.

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 1 year's relevant footwear design and product development experience.
  • Someone with ambition who is looking to grow and develop the role.
  • Innovative and forward-thinking.
  • Can follow quick turnaround times for a fast-moving business, must be able to organise and adapt themselves to the changing daily tasks.
  • Attention to detail is key as this is a fast-paced role, so a sharp eye
  • Adobe knowledge is essential for product design.
  • A meticulous approach to organisation and effective timekeeping to manage workload and deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced buying office.
  • Email management and organisation, communication to factories abroad on a daily basis.
  • Team player who collaborates and communicates effectively at all levels.
  • A willingness to learn and improve and have a ‘hands-on’ approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel.
  • Good numeracy skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Fashion or Design.
  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Basic pattern making knowledge is desired.
